Alibi Shift
This guide reflects the current Alibi Shift implementation for iPhone and iPad.
Getting started
Start with the guided introduction. Read each clue, tap a room at a moment in the timeline, and place a person there. You can rule out a person without placing someone else. Your notes are working assumptions, not confirmed answers.
Use Check notes to look for contradictions. Hint lets you reveal reasoning one step at a time without changing your board. When the timeline is complete, choose Name the culprit.
Restoring The Complete Casebook
- Connect to the internet and check that you’re signed in to the same Apple Account used for the original purchase.
- Open Alibi Shift’s Settings.
- Choose Restore purchases under The Complete Casebook.
- Follow any Apple prompts and read the result in Settings.
If no previous purchase is found, check the Apple Account used for purchases. If restoration fails, check your connection and try again. You don’t need to buy the same purchase again to restore access.
Restoring a purchase restores casebook access, not saved cases. Progress is stored on each device and does not sync between devices.
Saved progress and backups
Cases, notes, history, and preferences save on your device. Removing the app removes that local data. A device backup may retain a copy, depending on your backup settings; the app has no in-app backup import or progress recovery service.
If progress can’t be read, the app may offer to keep a backup and start over. That preserved file cannot be opened in the app. Don’t delete the app as a first troubleshooting step.
If saving fails, free some device storage and choose Retry saving before closing the app.
Playing offline
The introduction, daily cases, and unlocked content can be played offline. Buying or restoring The Complete Casebook may need an internet connection to Apple. There are no game accounts, ads, or subscriptions.
Sharing a solve
Share your solve opens the system share sheet. Choose a destination to send the case card. It leaves out the answer and your notes. Copies already shared must be removed from the destination where you sent them.
Read the Alibi Shift privacy draft for more about local data, purchases, and sharing.
